Maryam Sanda has been remanded in prison custody.
The Police said it is hard to remand Maryam Sanda who allegedly murdered Bilyaminu Bello, son of a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The presiding judge, Yusuf Halilu ruled that suspects be remanded in Suleja prison and the matter has been adjourned to December 7th for further hearing.
Hussein Musa, the defence counsel, also pleaded with the court not to send his client to prison custody because of her six month old baby.
According to Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police, which is handling the case, the suspect, and wife of the deceased, Maryam Sanda, who has been in its custody, had already been charged to court.
“That you Maryam Sanda: female adult of number 4 pakali close wuse 2 Abuja on or about 19/11/2017 at about 03: 50 hours, within the Abuja Judicial Division did commit the offence of culpable homicide: punishable with death”.
Covering her face with a veil, Maryam, wept profusely in the court, and prevented journalists from taking direct pictures of her face.
Police had filed a two-count charge of murder against Mrs. Sanda, making a case for the death penalty.
He explained that “to assist the Police with their ongoing investigation, some persons have been invited for questioning on the matter”.
Sanda is the daughter of Maimuna Aliyu, the former Executive Director of Aso Savings and Loans Limited.
She allegedly then carried out her vengeance in the dead of the night by stabbing him in the neck and chest while he slept in the bedroom at their home in Maitama, Abuja.
